Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located in the Chihuahuan Desert. Over 119 caves are hidden beneath the surface. The most popular attraction here is the show cave which is Carlsbad Cavern. It is open all year except on Christmas Day.

Probably the most incredible cave I have been in. The self guided tour starts at the natural entrance you then decsend switchbacks down 750 feet into the cave. It takes about 1.5 hours to walk this section. The second section of the cave also takes about 1.5 hours making it a total of about 3 hours. You then take the elevator to the surface.

What a great spot. The caverns are awe inspring. Kids especially liked the cafe and washrooms at the bottom of the cave. Allow at least 4hrs for visit. They provide pet sitting for $10

You have the option to take the elevator down and just do the second section of the cave if you wish. The floor is all paved with easy access. You can rent an audio device guide at the gift shop for $5. Last tickets to the Cave sold at 3.15pm
