See the beautiful towering, bird-like volcanic rock formation 15 miles southwest of Shiprock, the Shiprock Peak, which can be seen from far away. Also known as the 'Tsé Bit' a'í' to the Navajos, its peak is 7,178 feet above sea level and is sacred to the Navajos - making hiking and climbing the peak and its surrounding rocks forbidden. Driving on the dirt road leading to the formation is also prohibited, and visitors can only take photos and view the pinnacle from the paved road.
