Description

The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, also known as the Central Park Reservoir, is a decommissioned reservoir spanning 106 acres and holds over 1,000,000,000 US gallons of water. Check out the 1.58-mile jogging track used by many runners, and encircled by the park's bridle trail. The area is also one of the main ecological sanctuaries in the park, attracting more than 20 species of waterbirds: coots, mergansers, northern shovelers, ruddy ducks, buffleheads, loons, cormorants, wood ducks, American black ducks, gadwall, grebes, herons and egrets, along with various species of gulls.
