It is the first state park dedicated to African Americans. It was first named Shelby County Negro State Park but was later changed to T.O. Fuller to honor the prominent African American educator, pastor, politician, civic leader and author, Thomas O. Fuller. The park has hiking trails, playgrounds, Olympic-size pool, splash pad, ball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and gathering space. It has 45 sites with tables, fire rings, grills, electric and water hookups. The camp also has a bathhouse and laundry. Camping fee is $25 to $27 a night.

Nice quiet shady campsite close to downtown Memphis. $25 taxi ride to Beale St. Poor cell phone reception in the campground so calling a taxi was a challenge. Suggest pre-booking taxi before arriving at park if planning a night out.

The campground has many hardwood trees that provide plenty of shade. There are 45 campsites that are RV accessible with some sites accommodating up to 85 feet of RV space.
