Standing at 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and is the highest point in Tennessee, and the third highest mountain east of the Mississippi. Highest point of the mountain. Take the steep 1 mile (return) trail to the observation tower. Road closed December 1 to March 32. Gorgeous views.

Can't take dogs all the way up to the dome but it's still excellent
