Description
Dry camping on BLM Land at the Mansard Trailhead. There are no facilities. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace.
The Mansard Trail is a three-mile round trip hiking and equestrian trail east of the city of Kanab, UT. The Mansard Trail leads you up to a an alcove filled with ancient petroglyphs. The petroglyph panel is found on the large slab of sandstone that rests at the base of the alcove. The panel contains several images that have not been seen at any other site in the area. The route begins with a roughly half-mile-long slope up a steep grade before arriving at the top of the Vermilion Cliffs. Once at the top, you follow a sandy plateau to the base of the White Cliffs. Once at the base of the cliffs, you can make your way towards an alcove that faces southwest. The hike alone offers expansive views of Kanab and the mountains and plateaus of northern Arizona. Mansard Trail is open to foot- and horse-traffic only. Bicycles and motorized vehicles are not allowed. Dogs are welcome, but dog poop must be carried out. Disposal bags and a trash can are located at the trailhead.

Great spot. Tough road but can be done with a RV driving really carefully. Sunset's light is gorgous.
