Bear Lake is a natural freshwater lake on the IdahoUtah border that is about 109 square miles in size. Split almost equally between the two states, the Utah portion is the second largest natural freshwater lake in Utah.
It has long been called the 'Caribbean of the Rockies' for its unique turquoise blue color, due to the refraction of calcium carbonate or limestone deposits suspended in the lake. It is a popular destination for tourists and water sports enthusiasts, as the surrounding valley has also gained a reputation for having high-quality raspberries.
