Description
Around the tip of the peninsula, hikers will pick up on the East Rim Trail, which is partly paved and partly slickrock. Visitors can look east down by the river to see the milky blue ponds of a potash mine as they curve back around to the 'neck.'
The trail turns to gravel and hugs the edge of the rim, providing amazing views into Shafer Basin with the La Sal Mountains rising to the east.
