Description
Located next to the historic Wapiti Ranger Station, Wapiti Campground has 41 campsites sitting along the North Fork of the Shoshone River. Pronounced 'WA-puh-tee', the term means 'elk' in American Indian.
Campers can visit the nearby Wapiti Wayside and learn more about grizzly bears and general visitor information. There is also a trailhead from the campground, which leads into the Washakie Wilderness via Elk Fork Creek.

Powered section closes 2nd October. No trash facilities after this date for either section (pack in, pack out). Rest of Park closes 12th October. Water was turned off when we were there so fees were lowered by $5. Fees are 1/2 price if you have a Seniors Pass.

Great little camp in bear country on the river. Toilet and trash point. Portable water to fill RV tank and 20 powered sites. Quite good fishing.
