Description

Deposits of oil from rocks below the surface seeps through Calcite Springs. These are too hot, enough to liquefy large quantities of sulfur. It is named after the milky white calcite crystals covering the area. This hydrothermal area is closed to visitors. You can only view this if you hike Yellowstone River Picnic Area trail.

A short loop trail consisting of a combination of stairs and viewpoints looking into the canyon. Really beautiful.
